R. M. R. W. Manchanayake Mrs. R. M. R. W. Manchanayake (Chairperson / Non-executive / Independent Director)

Mrs. R. M. R. W. Manchanayake was appointed as a Director and the Chairperson of the HDFC Bank with effect from 02nd January 2020.

Mrs. Wasanthi Manchanayake is an Attorney – At ‐ Law and she was attached to Department of Inland Revenue since 1984 as an Assessor and has been promoted to Commissioner General of Inland Revenue in 2014. Later she worked as a Senior Tax Policy Consultant at the Ministry of Finance from 2015 to 2019.

During her service period in Inland Revenue Department she has actively and successfully devoted her service contributing for the implementation of the RAMIS project (Automation project) as the project director. She also has attended several workshops and training programs overseas on E-Governance practice and innovation, at the Singapore E-Government Leadership Center, Tax fraud auditing and collection techniques in California USA, Negotiation of Tax Treaties in Malaysia, Training programs in Tax Administration in Nagpur and Delhi, OECD Transfer Pricing in Paris and Practical training on Best Practices in Public Service in Thailand.

Mrs. Wasanthi Manchanayak is a past Pupil of Gampaha Bandaranayake Vidyalaya and obtained her degree in Economics specially in Industrial Management. Further she has obtained Diploma in foreign languages and Diploma in English from Sri Lanka Technical College. While qualifying at Sri Lanka Law College she has obtained a Diploma in Advanced Professional English from the University of Colombo. Later on Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration awarded her the Diploma in Information Technology, and in 2009 she was awarded the Degree of Master of Public Management.


Mr. L. E. Susantha Silva Mr. L. E. Susantha Silva (Non – Executive, Independent Director)

Mr. Silva, flank with fellow-member qualification from numerous professional bodies both local and global, count 38 years of experience serving giant establishments, once again both local and global.

He holds fellow memberships from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (FCA), Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (FCMA), Institute of Chartered Professional Managers of Sri Lanka (FCPM). He also holds memberships of Certified Practicing Accountants of Australia (MCPA), Association of Computer Society of Australia (MACA). He is a B. Com (Sp) graduate from the University of Kelaniya and has obtained MBA Qualification from the Open University of Malaysia.

Mr. Silva is currently functioned as the Executive Director of Litro Gas Lanka Limited. In addition, he represents the Councils of the University of Kelaniya and the Post Graduate institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies of the University of Kelaniya as a Council Member. Also chair the Audit Committee of the University.

He was the forma Managing Director/CEO at the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation where he was also a member of the Board of Directors and functioned as acting Chairman during several instances. Ha also held multiple positions in Cabinet appointed committees in Sri Lanka. Thereafter he has served as a Vice Chancellor/CEO of the IBS University of Papua New Guinea that is affiliated to Southern Cross University of Australia. He also has served as the Regional Director for the African Business for a Group of Companies based in the UK. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Airport Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited and chaired the Audit Committee. In Addition, Mr. Silva chaired the Audit committee of the HDFC being a Board Member during June 2012 to May 2015.

The vibrant profile of Mr. Silva has innumerable very senior and Board Director level positions held from time to time, serving multinational companies in the UK, Africa, Middle East & Papua New Guinea. To sum up it all up, he has held Chief Executive Officer (CEO) positions 7 times during his executive tenner Nationally and Internationally. Mr. Silva also has close association to Information Technology and has spearheaded many IT verticals which include being the President of Papua New Guinea Computer Society in the global context and has been at the helm of IT Department in local establishments. He also has rendered in the capacity of trainer of human capital developments and lecturer in many recognized institutes, universities, both local and global.

Professor A. Jayamaha Professor A. Jayamaha (Non – Executive, Independent Director)

Professor Ariyarathna Jayamaha, Professor of Accounting in the Department of Accountancy, University of Kelaniya and at present he is the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies of the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka.

Over the 35 years of service in the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, Professor Jayamaha served as the Head of the Department of Human Resource Management, Head of the Department of Accountancy and Coordinator of the Master of Business Administration programme in the Faculty of Commerce and Management studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. In 2005, he proceeded to the University of Southern Queensland, Australia, for his Doctoral studies, and in 2010 he was awarded the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy. His PhD research at the University of Southern Queensland, Australia, was on the “Accounting and Financial Practices and Efficiency of Small Financial Institutions in Sri Lanka. Professor Jayamha’s work has focused on the efficiency of small and medium size enterprises in Sri Lanka. His finding is presented in national and international Conferences and published in many peer reviewed local and international journals and cited by many researches around the World.

Professor Jayamaha is also a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and practitioner and precedent partner of Jayamaha, Pushpakumara and Company. As a qualified Chartered Accountant he discharged his duties as a consultant for various types of extension programs and thereby he would be able to contribute policy making endeavours for the National Education system of Sri Lanka. Further, Prof. Jayamaha renders his service as a reviewer of the institutional review of Sri Lankan Universities and higher educational institutions conducted by the University Grant Commission in Sri Lanka and Director Board member of Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Monitoring Board.

Mr. P. M. K. Hettiarachchi (Non – Executive, Independent Director)

Mr. Manjula Hettiarachchi, Additional Director General, Department of Development Finance, Ministry of Finance, Sri Lanka, has served in the public sector for twenty years, beginning in 2002 as an Assistant Director of the Sri Lanka Planning Service. Additionally, he is performing the duties of the National Insurance Trust Fund Board's Chief Executive Officer and the Project Director for the ADB-funded Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Line of Credit (SMELoC) Project.

Mr. Hettiarachchi holds a Master's Degree in International Development Economics from the International University of Japan and a Bachelor's Degree (B.Sc.) in Management from Sri Jayawardenapura University in Sri Lanka. Additionally, he has obtained two Post Graduate Diplomas in Development Economics from the University of Colombo in Sri Lanka and the Institute of Development Economics in Chiba, Japan. Further, he holds a Certificate of Intermediate Banking Studies from the Institute of Banking Studies.

Mr. W. M. Ananda Mr. W. M. Ananda (Non – Executive, Independent Director)

Mr. W.M. Ananda (Special Grade SLAS Officer) is presently working as the Additional Secretary (Housing & Development) in the State Ministry of Rural Housing and Construction and Building Materials Industries Promotion. He started his career as an Assistant Director of Establishments in the Ministry of Public Administration in 1998.

He held many posts as an Assistant Divisional Secretary of Pasbagekorale & Doluwa, in Kandy district. Then he was attached to the Central Provincial council and held many posts, such as Assistant Secretary and Cooperative Commissioner of the Central Province. Thereafter he held Division Secretary posts of Wilgamuwa and Pallepola in Mathale district and Nuwara eliya in Nuwara eliya district. Then he served as the Secretary to the Uva Provincial council.

He holds Bachelor of Science Degree from University of Peradeniya, Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies from University of Peradeniya, Master of Arts (Sociology) from University of Kelaniya.


Mr. W. M. Ananda Mr. P. A. Lionel (Non- Executive, Independent Director )

Mr. Lionel was the former Senior Deputy General Manager, Bank of Ceylon. Joined the Bank of Ceylon in 1983 as a management trainee after graduating from university of Colombo. He is a career banker with nearly 40 years’ experience in banking and financial services. He held the positions of senior Deputy General Manager (treasury, investment and international operation), Deputy General Manager (human resources) and Deputy General Manager (investment banking) of Bank of Ceylon. He was the chairman of the investment committee of Bank of Ceylon from 2011 to 2014.

He received broad experience and extensive training in treasury management and Forex dealing in London in the year 1988 to 1989.Further, he headed the treasury of Bank of Ceylon Karachi during the period from 1998 to 2001.He was a member of the Credit Committee and Asset and Liability Management Committee for 10 years and specialized in cross border funding and cross selling of financial instruments. He has a 20 years’ experience in primary and secondary market of government securities and he held the position of CEO of the Primary Dealer Unit of BOC.

Under his leadership, BOC treasury achieved several milestones. Two issuance of USD 500 million bonds each in 2012 and 2013 and this is the first ever largest international bond issuance by a Sri Lankan bank. First ever USD debenture in Sri Lanka and largest debenture issue for a government institution (UDA) were also structured by him. During that period, he structured several large foreign currency syndicate Loans with several foreign banks to mobilize foreign funds to Sri Lanka.

Mr. Lionel joined the Corporate Management of National Savings Bank in the year 2015 after retirement from BOC and functioned as the Head of the Treasury and the Asset Management Division for three years. Under his guidance, Treasury and Forex activities of National Savings Bank were set up and able to show their presence in the forex market.

Mr. W. M. Ananda Mr. D. M. M. Maduranga Wijayarathna (Non- Executive, Independent Director )

Mr. D.M.M.Maduranga Wijayarathna (LL.B Hons - University of Colombo) is presently working as an Attorney at Law in Supreme Court of Sri Lanka and Notary Public, Company Secretary , Commissioner for Oaths. He is a council member of the BAR Association of Sri Lanka and a former Secretary of the Moratuwa Lawyers Association.

As the President of the Sri Lanka Young Lawyers Association, he engages in major civil and political activities taking part as a professional and a social activist and currently holding the post of Vice President of Lawyers for Justice Association.

Mr. W. M. Ananda Dr. Krishantha Pathiraja (Non- Executive, Independent Director )

Dr. Krishantha Pathiraja, Chairman of Palmyrah Development Board, Ministry of Plantation, Sri Lanka, has served in the private and public sector for eighteen years, beginning in 2004. He served as Consultant, Advisor in reputed private sector organizations and currently working as Chairman of Palmyrah Development Board, Brand Ambassador of LAKSALA, and he was appointed to the Jaffna Development Committee(DCC).

And also he was appointed as a Scientific Advisory Board Member to the DK International Research Foundation in Tamilnadu, India in 10th January 2022.

Dr. Krishantha is specialized in Business Administration, Strategic Management and Information Technology.

Dr. Krishantha holds a Phd in Business Administration from the Public University of California and a Phd(Hons) in Information Technology from Global Peace University India and Phd(Reading) in Strategic Management from ICC University of Technology in Cambodia. Additionally, he is Professional Member of British Computer Society in UK, The Charted Institute of Information Communication Technology and member of National Computer Center UK.

Mr. W. M. Ananda Mr. Rajiv Sooriyaarachchi (Non- Executive, Independent Director )

Mr. Rajiv Sooriyaarachchi is the Chairman of the National Housing Development Authority. In addition, he is a member of Board Director Urban Development Authority Urban Settlement Development Authority.

He was appointed as Vice-Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited on December 2019. He brings in wealth of experience of over 30 years and extensive knowledge in the industries of Insurance and Consumer Electronics and also in International Business Administration. He was appointed to the present position in December 2019 and ever since he plays a pivotal role in overseeing administrative and operational functions of all airports under AASL and works closely with both local and international industry key stakeholders while acting as a key spokesman of AASL in dealing with media organizations as he plays the role of only full-time Executive Director of AASL other than Chairman. He also serves as the Chairman of HR and Remuneration Board sub-committee at AASL.

Prior to being appointed as the Vice-Chairman of AASL, Mr. Rajiv functioned as the Chairman of Puttalam Salt Limited during 2010-2015. He also has served as the Chairman of the Cooperative Rural Bank Union Ltd - Gampaha during 2011-2015. He was also serving as Vice Chairman of Cooplife Insurance Company Ltd since 2022 and holding directorship positions in Cooperative Insurance Company Ltd since 2016 and Road Development Authority from 2007 – 2010.
